Door to College Scholarship Launched

Nebraska’s Coordinating Commission for Postsecondary Education announces the launch of the Door to College Scholarship Program, with applications accepted beginning May 1, 2024, for the 2024-25 academic year.  The Door to College Scholarship, created by the Nebraska Legislature in 2023, is available to undergraduate students who graduated from a Nebraska Youth Rehabilitation and Treatment Center (YRTC) high school or graduated from high school after being discharged from a YRTC facility.  The scholarship provides up to $5,000 per school year, depending on enrollment intensity (full-time or

Career-Readiness and Dual-Credit Education Grant Program Launch Announced

On March 15, the Coordinating Commission reviewed and approved the 2024 Nebraska Higher Education Progress Report, which includes a wide variety of comparative measures over the past decade to monitor and evaluate progress toward achieving three priorities for Nebraska's postsecondary education system:

Griffin appointed to the Coordinating Commission

Governor Jim Pillen has appointed Dr. LeDonna Griffin to the Coordinating Commission for Postsecondary Education in an at-large position. Dr. Griffin is the founder and CEO of Leaders to Legends, LLC, which supports families educating their children in a private or homeschool setting. Prior to her current work, Dr. Griffin served Omaha Public Schools for 26 years as an elementary school teacher, assistant principal, and principal at Beals Elementary School and J.G. Masters School.

Dr. Kathleen Fimple Honored with Outstanding Service Award from the Midwestern Higher Education Compact

Dr. Kathleen Fimple, academic programs officer for the Nebraska Coordinating Commission for Postsecondary Education (CCPE), was acknowledged by the Midwestern Higher Education Compact (MHEC) as a recipient of their Outstanding Service Award on November 14, during the commission’s Annual Commission Meeting, held in Saint Paul, Minnesota.  Fimple was nominated for her leadership on MHEC’s Regional Steering Committee for the Midwestern State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (M-SARA) since 2014. SARA provides a voluntary approach to state oversight of postsecondary distance education.
