Attracting Excellence to Teaching Program

Per Nebraska Revised Statute 85-3102, on July 1, 2024, administration of the Excellence in Teaching Act transitioned from the Nebraska Department of Education to the Nebraska Coordinating Commission for Postsecondary Education. This includes the Enhancing Excellence in Teaching Program, the Attracting Excellence to Teaching Program, and the new Attracting Excellence to Teaching – Student Teacher Program.

Enhancing Excellence in Teaching Program

This includes the Enhancing Excellence in Teaching Program, the Attracting Excellence to Teaching Program, and the new Attracting Excellence to Teaching – Student Teacher Program.

AETP - Student Teaching

The Attracting Excellence to Teaching - Student Teaching (AETP-ST) provides a one-time forgivable loan to eligible students who are enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate teacher education program at an eligible Nebraska institution working towards their initial certificates to teach in Nebraska during their student teaching semester.

Annual Progress Report Assesses Nebraska College Going and Completion, Makes Recommendations

On March 15, the Coordinating Commission reviewed and approved the 2024 Nebraska Higher Education Progress Report, which includes a wide variety of comparative measures over the past decade to monitor and evaluate progress toward achieving three priorities for Nebraska's postsecondary education system:

Griffin appointed to the Coordinating Commission

Governor Jim Pillen has appointed Dr. LeDonna Griffin to the Coordinating Commission for Postsecondary Education in an at-large position. Dr. Griffin is the founder and CEO of Leaders to Legends, LLC, which supports families educating their children in a private or homeschool setting. Prior to her current work, Dr. Griffin served Omaha Public Schools for 26 years as an elementary school teacher, assistant principal, and principal at Beals Elementary School and J.G. Masters School.

Dr. Kathleen Fimple Honored with Outstanding Service Award from the Midwestern Higher Education Compact

Dr. Kathleen Fimple, academic programs officer for the Nebraska Coordinating Commission for Postsecondary Education (CCPE), was acknowledged by the Midwestern Higher Education Compact (MHEC) as a recipient of their Outstanding Service Award on November 14, during the commission’s Annual Commission Meeting, held in Saint Paul, Minnesota.  Fimple was nominated for her leadership on MHEC’s Regional Steering Committee for the Midwestern State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (M-SARA) since 2014. SARA provides a voluntary approach to state oversight of postsecondary distance education.
