Excellence in Teaching Act Programs Transition to Coordinating Commission

Per Nebraska Revised Statute 85-3102, on July 1, 2024, administration of the Excellence in Teaching Act transitions from the Nebraska Department of Education to the Nebraska Coordinating Commission for Postsecondary Education. This includes the Enhancing Excellence in Teaching Program, the Attracting Excellence to Teaching Program, and the new Attracting Excellence to Teaching – Student Teacher Program.

NE Career Scholarship at Private Colleges

The Nebraska Career Scholarship (NCS) Program is a collaboration between the Nebraska Coordinating Commission for Postsecondary Education (Commission) and participating Nebraska private colleges. The program provides renewable scholarships of up to $10,000 per year for tuition, fees, required tools and equipment (including books), room, and board to students pursuing degrees in programs of study leading to high-wage, high-skill, and high-demand careers. 

To be eligible for a Nebraska Career Scholarship at a participating private college, an applicant:

Factual Look at Higher Education in Nebraska - 2024

The 2024 Factual Look at Higher Education in Nebraska uses data from the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) surveys from 2013-14 to 2023-24 to provide comparative data for Nebraska's public higher education institutions. This report reviews 10-year trends in postsecondary enrollments and degree attainment by sector and by institution.

Door to College Scholarship Launched

Nebraska’s Coordinating Commission for Postsecondary Education announces the launch of the Door to College Scholarship Program, with applications accepted beginning May 1, 2024, for the 2024-25 academic year.  The Door to College Scholarship, created by the Nebraska Legislature in 2023, is available to undergraduate students who graduated from a Nebraska Youth Rehabilitation and Treatment Center (YRTC) high school or graduated from high school after being discharged from a YRTC facility.  The scholarship provides up to $5,000 per school year, depending on enrollment intensity (ful
