Baumgartner testifies on college affordability

The Coordinating Commission's executive director, Dr. Mike Baumgartner, testified before the Legislature's Education Committee on Sept. 10 at a hearing about college affordability.

The committee's chair, Sen. Kate Sullivan, asked Dr. Baumgartner to testify first and offer an overview of the issue in Nebraska, as well as make recommendations for ways to make college more affordable for Nebraska students.

College affordability hearing

The Legislature's Education Committee will hold a hearing on college affordability in room 1525 in the State Capitol. LB 519, passed and signed into law during the 2015 Legislative session, requires the committee to conduct an interim study on postsecondary affordablity issues. This hearing is intended to gather information for that study and its resulting report.
