Nebraska's Coordinating Commission for Postsecondary Education

Dr. Paul Von Behren of Fremont named new commission chair; Daniels is vice chair

The Coordinating Commission for Postsecondary Education elected Dr. Paul Von Behren its new chair at its May 19 meeting at Central Community College in Grand Island.  He will serve from July 1, 2023, to June 30, 2024.  Dr. Von Behren has served on the Commission since 2017 representing Nebraska Supreme Court Judicial District 3, Northeast Nebraska.  Dr. Von Behren has extensive experience in agriculture, having worked in private veterinary practice, 23 years in the swine industry, and 13 years in the beef and dairy industries for Cargill and ADM. Dr. Von Behren earned his DVM at Iowa State University and an MBA from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. He also serves as a member of the Fremont City Council.

The commission also voted for Tim Daniels of Omaha to serve as the vice chair during the coming year. Mr. Daniels was appointed a commissioner in 2017 in an at-large capacity.  He is a Panhandle native who received a BA in business from Chadron State College and spent most of his career in the Scottsbluff-Gering area, where he was an active community leader.  He served for 13 years on the Western Nebraska Community College Board of Governors, including 2 years as chairman.

The commission consists of 11 members - six representing the state's judicial districts and five at-large.
