To increase the number of underrepresented students who enter and remain in postsecondary education, the U.S. Department of Education has designated grant funds to states to undertake projects that meet the needs of those students and their families. Nebraska's Governor has designated the Coordinating Commission for Postsecondary Education to be the primary grant recipient for the state of Nebraska.
Eligible projects that may be funded by the CACG Program are to be used for specific activities or services that will help eligible students gain entrance to, and succeed in, a postsecondary education environment. Projects that would qualify for CACG Program funds include those that provide students with information on postsecondary financing options and postsecondary education benefits, as well as professional development activities for guidance counselors to better assist their students in gaining admission to postsecondary institutions. The CACG Program also seeks to foster partnerships among federal, state and local governments, and local philanthropic organizations.
